Abstract
Agni is the fundamental concept in the management of all the diseases in Ayurveda. The Agni plays a vital role in all the stages of the pathogenesis of a disease. Agni can be compared to the digestive power and hence the basic concepts of Agni is always needed and here an attempt has been made to understand the concept of Agni from the very Nirukti to the clinical implications.
