''Synthesis and characterization of Graphene Oxide via the Hummers Method: A Short Review''

Abstract

Graphene oxide (GO) has captured significant approach in various scientific and technological fields owing to its unique synthesis and characterization versatile applications. This paper presents a short review of the synthesis and characterizations of graphene oxide using the Hummers method, a widely adopted approach for the oxidation of graphite. The Hummers method involves the oxidation of graphite with a mixture of strong acids and oxidizing agents, resulting in the formation of graphene oxide with oxygen-containing functional groups. The review provides an overview of the key steps involved in the Hummers method, emphasizing the importance of precise control over reaction parameters to achieve desired material characteristics such as XRD, UV visible, FTIR and RAMAN study.
