Indigenous Medicinal Knowledge or Traditional Medicinal Knowledge is the knowledge of group which is indigenous and it is ancient one. There is no precise time to decide its origin. IMK is innovation of evolutionary human life and it is subset of traditional knowledge or science which was included in the life of indigenous group. The system of Traditional medicinal knowledge has capable to solve the problems in a sustainable. The traditional medicinal knowledge still played a vital role in medical field. The TMK is both ancient and contemporary one. It involves herbal, genetic, animal and other environmental products and the process of medication. The TMK has its own economic significance in contemporary society. Most of this medicinal knowledge is exploiting for commercial gain, the reason might be manifold. Intellectual property right regime is also unassertive on IMK. The lack of strong uniform legal mechanism is big lacuna for protection of IMK for misappropriation. The fair benefit sharing is the right of the ethno group, if it is being exploited .A strong and stringent legal mechanism is require under intellectual property right regime to protect the IMK in this contemporary emergency.
