It has to be realized that there is no theorizing in the ancient Tamil tradition to find out what the entire theoretical construct of a literature is working in the social, religious, cultural and economic conditions. Therefore, this article seeks to explain that modern theories with socio-historical foundations help us to complete its inadequacy. In particular, this article aims to provide an introduction to how the findings obtained from a systematic theoretical approach can be interpreted in a socio-historical context.
