Medical waste collection, separation, and disposal are issues faced by many countries. But in order to reduce the possibility of harm, illness, and cross-contamination, more care is needed. As a result, waste management personnel and healthcare personnel need to adhere to the obligatory safety protocols. The classification of the many kinds and categories of medical waste as well as its treatment techniques are covered in this review. Medical waste needs to be handled and processed with a lot of stages and procedures since it might be toxic and polluted. Incineration is widely used as the main technique of treating medical and hospital waste in many countries. However, it is considered a highly polluting process that releases a variety of chemicals that harm the environment and human health. The treatment and disposal of medical waste in Egypt, China, Germany, and the United States were contrasted as case studies, and the rules and regulations that each of these nations has passed to control medical waste are examined and debated.
