This paper elaborates on the trends in Utility Vehicle sales for the Indian market for the decade 2010-11 to 2019-20. The trends reveal that overall utility vehicle sales have boomed and risen by a mammoth 247% in this decade. However, a breakup of the car segment into its categories reveals the nuances, in that, some categories show a fluctuating trend. That said, with further technical and economic improvements in the sector, and government norms favouring the consumer, companies are likely to innovate further and bring in newer car models giving a fillip to the auto industry in India.
