Title

A STUDY ON WORK LIFE BALANCE AND ITS IMPACT ON PERFORMANCE WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO WOMEN POLICE CONSTABLES IN ERNAKULAM DISTRICT, KERALA

Abstract

The concept of work-life balance (WLB) has indeed been a topic of discussion for several decades. While the term itself was coined in 1986, the idea and the need for achieving a balance between work and personal life have been recognized and addressed even earlier. Work/life programs were already in existence as early as the 1930s, aiming to support employees in effectively managing their work responsibilities while also allowing flexibility to handle personal matters. The primary goal of work-life programs is to create policies and procedures within organizations that enable employees to perform their jobs efficiently while also accommodating their personal concerns and issues in their family lives. These programs acknowledge the increasing demands faced by dual-wage-earning families, who often find themselves working longer hours. Achieving a work-life balance implies that individuals can successfully manage both their work and personal lives with minimal conflict between their roles and responsibilities in these domains. Data was collected from 193 respondents using Simple Random Sampling. The research technique used is descriptive research. 95 percent confidence level, 5% margin of error, and a 50 percent population proportion are used to compute the sample size. 385 are the final sample. I took half of the final result. A total of 193 respondents took part in the research. In a pilot test of the questionnaire, a sample size of 15 people was employed. It's mostly done to ensure the instrument's authenticity. 193 respondents were included in the final sample size for analysis. The investigation was conducted using IBM SPSS Statistical Version 20.0. The study used the Reliability Test, Factor Analysis, Multiple Regression and Chi-Square as tools. A reliability test is carried out. The values of the coefficient alpha (Cronbach's alpha) were converted to 0.957. It can be deduced from the end result that the records are adequate and reliable. The findings revealed that there was a strong relationship between all aspects of Work Life Balance and Work Performance.
