The project aims to create a specialized packet sniffer program using the Python scapy module to intercept network packets within the same network. The purpose of the project is to assist network engineers and users interested in monitoring their network traffic. The project addresses the need for simple, beginner-friendly tools for studying networking fundamentals like packet sniffing, port scanning, and MITM attacks. The objectives include sniffing packets, monitoring or modifying them, and ensuring user-friendliness. The project uses Python with the SCAPY package for packet manipulation and includes functionalities for packet sniffing, port scanning, and filtering protocols. The project aims to refine the user interface, implement advanced packet analysis, and encourage community collaboration for continuous improvement. However, it has limitations such as the requirement for remote scapy and Python installation and the absence of a comprehensive GUI. The Project makes it a valuable resource for understanding the development of a custom packet sniffer for network monitoring and security.
