Title

Study on investigating training needs of Millennials and Gen Z in the workplace

Abstract

Understanding the distinct training requirements of Generation Z and Millennials is essential for developing an engaged and effective workforce in today's fast-paced workplace. In a private sector context, this study explores the needs and preferences of these two age groups. We sought to uncover variations in learning preferences and perceived skill gaps using a mix of qualitative interviews and statistical analysis with a sample size of 192 individuals. According to our research, Millennials and Generation Z hold similar roles inside organisations and have similar degrees of interest in and initiative for their professional development. They do not, however, agree on what knowledge areas and skill sets are essential for professional success. In spite of this, both groups think on the areas in which they believe training is lacking. It's interesting to note that satisfaction with training programmes' alignment with desired learning styles was stated by both Generation Z and Millennials. Additional information on particular skill shortages, such as those in teamwork, communication, technical proficiency, and industry knowledge, was obtained through qualitative interviews. Participants also brought up difficulties such senior staff members' ego problems and breaks in communication. In general, this study clarifies the complex training requirements and skill gaps that exist between Generation Z and Millennials in business settings. Organizations may improve worker engagement, productivity, and general effectiveness in the contemporary workplace by being aware of these distinctions and putting customized training programmes into place.
