This study explores the examination of conventional and affordable housing in India. Cost and sustainability may seem like a bad combination, but they work together to guarantee projects' long-term viability. This thesis' primary goal is to investigate current policies by using case studies from the literature to shed light on how they are implemented around the world. Even though India has made great strides toward the "Housing for All Mission 2022," more work remains. The rules pertaining to affordable housing have established a foundation for a more seamless procedure that involves multiple parties at distinct phases. For India to offer both affordable housing and vocational training, a global ecosystem is needed. In an effort to alleviate the housing shortage in urban areas, the government introduced the PMAY (U) programs in 2015. However, these programs' implementation frequently takes time, which raises cost estimates and affects EWS categories that are financially vulnerable. To tackle this, the study uses case studies and a literature review to investigate how current policies are implemented globally. It also looks at building methods, with a focus on using affordable and sustainable building materials to cut costs and benefit the recipients both monetarily and aesthetically. The study also uses Revit and Staad Pro software to compare the construction costs of conventional and low-cost buildings.
