ABSTRACT Part IV of the Indian Constitution which deals with the Directive Principles of State Policy, encourages the right to work. Though not a fundamental right, it is a Constitutional right which has to be secured to its citizens. With the advent of privatization, new economic model of employment generation has taken place. Even though it has given ample job opportunities to few sectors in a state like Manipur, the question of a proper welfare and provision of schemes arise. Profit making and capitalist nature is rather encouraged than a welfare state as which the Indian Constitution aims at. Constitution being the Grund Norm, adherence to its provisions is a must for all rules and regulations. Therefore in view of labour and economic practices, the right to work is affected with the influx of neo-liberal concepts.
