This study investigates the use of extrapharmacopoeial medicinal plants (Anukt Dravyas) in local health traditions (LHTs) of the Aravalli Hills in Gurugram district, Haryana. A field survey from 2019 to 2021 documented 58 plant species, including 27 not currently recognized in the Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia, used to treat 120 ailments. The findings reveal new therapeutic applications for known plants and highlight the potential for novel drug discovery. The study emphasizes the importance of preserving traditional knowledge and integrating it with modern scientific methods for sustainable healthcare and drug development. However, challenges in knowledge sharing and the need for scientific validation are acknowledged. This research contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting the potential of extrapharmacopoeial plants in enriching contemporary medicine.
