Living in a society that demands clear understanding of dreadful diseases like Cholangiocarcinoma, there is a need to formulate a diagnostic approach for such diseases as they are not mentioned as primary disease in Ayurvedic classics. ‘Trividha Bodhya Sangraha’ is a unique concept where the Samprapti of Anukta vyadhis can be explained conclusively. Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a highly lethal, epithelial cell malignancy that occurs in biliary tree. It can be classified as extrahepatic, intrahepatic or distal. In Ayurvedic perspective, this can be considered as Arbuda which is Kapha-pradhana tridoshaja caused due to Sahaja, Ahara-viharaja and Dooshivisha janyaja. The pitta dushti in the early stages, followed by kapha dushti along with dhatu dushti involving Rakta, Mamsa and Medo-dhatu and its Srotas, simultaneous Agni dushti in different levels results in the Aama formation in Yakrt and its appendages lead to the manifestation of Arbuda. The understanding of the disease with a providence might help for an effective prevention of the same.
