This paper reviews electronic cigarettes (e-cigs) and e-liquids in depth, using forensic techniques to unveil the mysteries that veil their chemical structures the review begins with an introduction to cigarette-based products, followed by various classifications. The procedures associated with forensic analysis are then elucidated, emphasizing the importance of identifying the chemical composition of e-liquids. Chemical synthesis and microscale analyzes shed light on the diversity of materials present, leading to a comprehensive understanding of steam production. The paper also addresses the limitations of forensic research, highlighting the challenges faced in this growing field. Legal implications are discussed in the changing legislation, while health and safety concerns highlight the need for increased awareness. Finally, future trends and challenges in the vaping research are considered to provide a forward-looking perspective. In conclusion, the study highlights the importance of a judicial approach to complex issues involving e-cigs and their chemical components.
